Criminal Cases

September 11, 2001 was considered a defining moment in history not only in the United States but globally on its war against terrorism. The Pentagon kept suspected al-Qaeda terrorist members in custody at Guantamo Bay facing charges on war and murder crimes related to September 11, 2001 attacks. Officials reported that they will seek for death penalty to the criminal cases which are bound to be categorized as the first court case under the military tribunal system’s terrorism era. These charges support a long-term and highly sophisticated plan organized by the al-Qaeda as an assault to the United States of America which killed almost 3,000 people.

Khalikd Shaikh Mohammed believed to be the mastermind of the terrorist attack along with other detained members of the terrorist group will be facing a highly secured trial. Though the cases will be handled by the civilian system, the detainees would still be prosecuted and answer to a military commission.
